Assignment: Construction sites and construction worker photography for marketing (Construction Photography).
Client: Avara Construction
Architect: GGLO
Locations: Kirkland Community Center, Kirkland, Washington and Harbor Steps Plaza, Seattle, Washington
Year: 2024
We worked with Avara Construction, a Redmond, Washington based company, to capture marketing photos of their ongoing projects around Seattle. They wanted us to showcase the dynamic nature and excitement at their construction sites, the skill and experience of their crew and what it takes to build new facilities and remodel the existing ones.
Construction photography is a dirty and challenging work. Navigating through the bustling construction sites, we maneuver around tools, construction materials and workers, staying out of the way, yet close enough to capture the work.
For this project, we worked at two sites – The Harbor Steps Plaza in Seattle and the Kirkland Community Center in Kirkland.
Kirkland Community Center
Located in Kirkland’s West of Market neighborhood, the 1001 Market Street project brings a fresh, multi-use space combining retail, luxury apartments, and a state-of-the-art gym. This building balances modern style with community-focused elements.
The exterior’s sleek lines and glass accents will create striking light and reflection effects. A welcoming layout is designed to add elegance to both the retail spaces and gym, while the residential units above will offer a touch of luxury with sweeping views and contemporary interiors. The integration of a gym and multi-use areas reflects the blend of form and function, making 1001 Market Street a standout destination for capturing the spirit of a modern urban community.
The Harbor Steps Plaza
Seattle’s Harbor Steps Plaza is an incredible makeover, and it’s ready for its close-up! After a massive, multi-phase renovation led by Avara Construction and GGLO, this iconic downtown staircase – connecting First Ave and Western Ave – has been transformed into a vibrant space perfect for soaking in the scenery.
The Harbor Steps now have a sleek new look, with Italian black granite fountains, stylish new pavers, and tons of seating areas surrounded by lush greenery. It’s a blend of modern touches and nature, with native plants and landscaped spots. The plaza now boasts lots of new features, like energy-efficient lighting, water-saving irrigation, and renewable bamboo decking.
